Se la notte pendesse dai rami
Come stracci di seta bagnata,
Vorrei coglierli e spremerne il succo
da bere in ginocchio davanti alla luna.

Translation:
If the night were hanging from trees
Like tatters of watery silk,
I would squeeze them and gather its juice
To drink on my knees in front of the moon.
